Today, the Catania Cruise Port was filled with magic as Disney tales came to life once again. After many years, we were thrilled to welcome a Disney ship to our port, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team and the Port Authority. This enchanting event marked a special moment in Catania’s growing reputation as a key destination for cruise tourism.
The onboard ceremony was attended by the Mayor and numerous local authorities, who joined Commander Ivo and the crew in celebrating the occasion. The event was further enhanced by the involvement of local cultural groups, which brought the magic of Disney to life in their own unique ways.
The CulturArte group from Noto added a special touch to the festivities with a beautiful salt drawing of Dumbo, linking the beloved Disney elephant to the symbol of Catania, the elephant of Etna. The Pizzifolk group, with their 20 dancers dressed in traditional costume, provided an energetic and festive welcome to the ship. Additionally, the talented artists Michele and Gabriele Puglisi, Danilo Amico, and Raimondo Russo showcased their impressive papier-mâché allegorical floats, further enriching the event.
For the children who had the opportunity to visit the ship, the day was truly unforgettable. Their beaming faces and wide smiles were the perfect reflection of the joy this magical day brought to all involved.
This event not only marked a special occasion for Catania but also reinforced the city’s position as a welcoming and vibrant destination for international cruise lines. We look forward to more magical moments like this in the future.
