The Port System Authority of the Eastern Sicilian Sea joins the "Italian Port Days" initiative launched by Assoporti in 2019, which this year sees the Italian ports involved in promoting relations between the territory and the citizens, through events, shows, guided tours and much more, both in person and online, with the aim of opening the port to the city.
The theme identified for the 2021 edition is social sustainability and overcoming gender inequalities. To this end, the "Women in Transport - the challenge for Italian Ports" project was launched with the aim of improving the working conditions of women, enhancing their activities and defining company policies that involve them at all levels of the organization. The AdSP of Eastern Sicilian Sea will give its contribution by organizing an event entitled "A Port beyond all limits", which will be held on 9 October 2021 at 20.00 in the forecourt of the Sporgente Centrale pier in front of the Cruise Terminal. The event will be free and open to the public (coming with a green pass) subject to availability, including dance, music, fashion and entertainment, so that art will be the tool through which to "overcome" gender inequalities and proclaim that only thanks to the will you can always be a winner.
Free reservations can already be made on Eventbrite at the following URL https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/biglietti-un-porto-oltre-ogni-limite-182539790427
The show will host the very welcome speeches of the Regional Councilor for Equality, Dr. Margherita Ferro and the Vice-Prefect of Catania Dr. Sarita Giuffrè, both engaged in the fight against gender inequalities.
Professor Liliana Nigro will be the artistic director and presenter of the show, which will start with a fashion show where 25 beautiful models will wear over 60 dresses that will also lead back to the theme of freedom and respect for women, with a touching tribute to the Afghan people. The lineup then includes the performances of the violinist Erika Ragazzi, famous for the gentle notes of her electric violin, and of the trio "Anime danzanti” Ionella and Sofia assisted by Adriana, a mother and a daughter: despite being forced into the chair on wheels, she has always fought her battle by dancing. The show will end with the instruments of the Anonimus Trio, delighting the audience with musical moments.
As already mentioned, the event was strongly supported by the AdSP of the Eastern Sicilian Sea thanks to the collaboration of Catania Cruise Port, the company that manages the Cruise Terminal of Catania port and which is part of the Global Ports Holding network, the largest independent cruise terminal operator in the world, with a consolidated presence in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Asia-Pacific regions. Thanks to recent acquisitions (Nassau - Bahamas; Havana - Cuba; Zadar - Croatia; Antigua - Antigua and Barbuda; and Taranto), Global Ports Holding currently manages a portfolio of 21 ports in 13 different countries, in which more of 4,000 berths of all Cruise lines.
